May J. by Jiang Ling, Day 7 of Shanghai Fashion Week

May J. by Jiang Ling, Day 7 of Shanghai Fashion Week

May J., a brand I first discovered at Shanghai Fashion Week in October 2009, has come far in her three short years as one of China’s most promising menswear designers. She presented a refined yet edgy collection for Fall/Winter 2012, with particularly incredible jackets and knits.…

ZucZug by Wang Yi Yang, Day 5 of Shanghai Fashion Week

ZucZug by Wang Yi Yang, Day 5 of Shanghai Fashion Week

ZucZug is truly a brand made for everyone. Although their creative director (Wang Yi Yang of Cha Gang) and design team are all Chinese, the brand strives to embrace people of all ethnic backgrounds and ages. ZucZug was the only brand to feature black models this season (Uma Wang has used black models in her presentations at Shanghai Fashion Week), as well as 30+ models… The models were also pretty much all normal height and weight, allowing the audience to more easily envision themselves in the clothes that were presented on the runway.…

Helen Lee, Day 4 at Shanghai Fashion Week

Helen Lee, Day 4 at Shanghai Fashion Week

Fu Dan Student Show, Day 3 at Shanghai Fashion Week

Fu Dan Student Show, Day 3 at Shanghai Fashion Week

As Fu Dan University is one of the most celebrated fashion schools in China, it was no surprise that they staged a great student group show at 800Show on the third day of Shanghai Fashion Week. Although there is definitely room for improvement, I was really surprised at the level of innovation and quality the students showed so early on in their careers… It reminded me a lot of the Parsons Thesis Review.…

Raffles Student Show, Day 2 at Shanghai Fashion Week

Sorry I’m being so lazy and not posting full written reviews of all of the shows, but there are just so many pictures and videos to sort through and upload and post that I’m afraid I’ll fall behind! So here are pictures from the only show I attended the second day of Shanghai Fashion Week, which was staged by Raffles Design Institute.…

Poesia by Chris Chang, Day 1 at Shanghai Fashion Week

One of the best shows ever at Shanghai Fashion Week. I don’t really have time to write a full review, but the clothes speak for themselves. Take a look:
