Yesterday three students of the College of Fashion Technology from Shanghai University of Engineering Sciences presented their collections, raising the bar very high for fellow future alumni. Styled with finely knit crochet head pieces, the first collection’s silk organza dresses exuded a romantic, ethereal softness counterbalanced by leather scallops appliques and futuristic sleeves in stark white leather.
A collective gasp from the audience was audible when the first look appeared from the second collection. The architectural, glamorous bodice channeled sci-fi armor, seemingly cast from patent leather in liquid gunmetal.
The final collection returned to femininity, but without straying from the students’ acute focus on structure and fine detail, seen in the infinite pleats of dusty rose chiffon on this one-shoulder top and evening dresses.
