The pur­vey­ors of cool, Open­ing Cere­mony, finally launched their Year of China in 2016!! Foun­ded in 2002, the US retail­er star­ted by import­ing products from Hong Kong and selling them in New York… They’ve waited ages to go back to their roots, and in 2016 Open­ing Cere­mony did just that!! They selec­ted a range of tal­en­ted Chinese design­ers to sell through their doors in New York, LA, and Japan, as well as their online shop.

Open­ing Cere­mony 终于在 2016 年炫酷满满地发布了他们的“中国年”!这家美国零售商创立于 2002 年, 最初从香港进口产品并在纽约出售······ 他们已经等了太久才返回到自己的根基, 而且 2016 年他们做到了! 他们选拔了一批才华横溢的中国设计师,并在纽约、 洛杉矶和日本的门店以及他们自己的网店进行销售。

Labelhood is quickly becom­ing China’s most com­pel­ling plat­form for design­ers to show­case their work. Only in its second sea­son, it has blos­somed seem­ingly overnight, and boas­ted an impress­ive roster that included FFIXXED, Hiuman, Staffonly, Chen Peng, Pro­nounce, Xu Zhi, and Yir­antian.

Set in the far-off reaches near Hongqiao Air­port, Coda Show­room was a des­tin­a­tion well-worth the trip. Not only did it fea­ture amaz­ing brands like The Lawn, Per­cy Lau, and Heng Shu, but they also cre­ated a more hol­ist­ic vis­ion of what fash­ion is and can be by cur­at­ing an exhib­i­tion based on Dieter Ram’s 10 Prin­ciples of Good Design.

Fash­ion Now has been known for hav­ing the most tightly cur­ated event in China, show­ing only 4 to 6 design­ers per sea­son. This sea­son there was also an exhib­i­tion with the likes of V Major, MICartsy, and Da Wei, while the coveted run­way slows were filled by seasoned vet­er­ans Even­ing and Ricostru, with one new­comer Zhao Qian­yan.

Fash­ion Now 在中国是出了名的有着最紧密策划的活动,每季仅展示 4 到 6 名设计师。本季也有一场像 V Major,MICartsy 和 Da Wei 一样的展览, 同时令人梦寐以求的走秀尽是老牌大腕 Even­ing 和 Ricostru, 当然也有新秀 Zhao Qian­yan。

Guo Pei was invited by the Cham­bre Syn­dicale de la Haute Cou­ture, join­ing offi­cial mem­bers Chanel, Dior, and Givenchy to show at Par­is Cou­ture Fash­ion Week in Janu­ary. She is only the second Chinese design­er to be invited after Yiqing Yin, who was invited in 2012.

Chris Chang and her brand Poesia have long been known for mes­mer­iz­ing tex­tures and vibrant col­ors, but in 2016 her col­lab­or­a­tion with MAC served up some very pig­men­ted real­ness. Oh ya, and she made his­tory by becom­ing the first Chinese fash­ion design­er to col­lab­or­ate with the stor­ied makeup brand.

CFB had nev­er hos­ted an off­line event before, but for our 5th year online we wanted to do some­thing spe­cial ! So we col­lab­or­ated with a laser artist to cre­ate a vir­tu­al ward­robe with almost 100 dif­fer­ent tops, bot­toms, dresses, and accessor­ies that the guests could “wear” at an event entitled LAYERZ at Dali­ah in Shang­hai.
